Neodymium, boron and iron – these three components were enough to get a kind of magnet that produces a very strong magnetic field. This, in turn, makes it extremely attractive. Among other things, thanks to this property, it has found such wide application in many devices. What is a neodymium magnet characterized by? Where it can be used?

Neodymium magnets are permanent magnets. This means that they do not lose their properties over time. They were invented relatively recently, in the early eighties of the last century. Although the composition of this magnet is based on neodymium, this element is combined with boron and iron to form the compound Nd₂Fe₁₄B.

It is produced using the powder metallurgy method. It consists in pressing powdered ingredients at high temperature and in a strong magnetic field. The production process ends with covering the magnet with a nickel, zinc or phosphate coating.

Neodymium magnets are also used to produce water magnetizers, i.e. installations aimed at water treatment and preventing scale build-up in pipes. They are also used on a large scale in industry and specialized machines. Their task is to improve elements such as generators and motors.
